It's understandable that you and Hubert would choose to share quarters, but as you are not our Lady Edelgard and have proven willing to harm us in the past, I would prefer to confirm you wish him no harm.

Syncing makes lying difficult. I suppose you could lie to yourself, but that is an entirely different matter.

It would set my mind at ease.

I suppose I've merely been living the life I've never had back in our world. Eating delicious food, going shopping - things of that nature. They seem frivolous compared to what I've been up to.

But I suppose death has changed my perspective on things.

( As much as Edelgard is an enemy back home, this place isn't a battlefield. There's no thought to hurt or ambush her. He knows he overreacted, and it isn't fair to stay mad at her for something out of her control. 

And honestly? He thought they were friends, once. Even if he changed to the Professor's class, he wants to think maybe in some way they still are friends. That's probably stupid on his part, he thinks. But they're both here and if they're not fighting... She deserves to have friends and companionship too, doesn't she?

He's busy reading the back of a box of what appears to be a make your own cat treats kit. He looks a little flustered as he reads over the instructions, but he's otherwise calm and surprisingly quiet when she arrives. Blinking, he sets the box down, looking over at her as she settles into the chair. )

[they're certainly friends in the way only edelgard can be friends with people, really. this edelgard didn't learn the ~power of friendship~ - keenly noted in the way she allowed bernadetta to burn alive on the hilltop, if only to turn the tide of battle. she's learning, slowly, now however... to trust and open up.

she quirks an eyebrow at the book - she doesn't recall him ever picking one up in the past - had they grown that much apart? that she's surprised to see him simply reading?

[ After acquiring her address, Dimitri is quick to get himself presentable and head over in the evening hours. If it were anyone else, he imagines that it wouldn't be proper to be knocking on a young woman's door at this time. Not that he's been as concerned with propriety these days but, still, he isn't sure if Edelgard has a reputation she is trying to maintain.

He doesn't know why he's nervous. There's no reason to be, is there? Hm. ]

[she opens the door, smiles when she sees him and steps aside to allow him into her home, shutting the door and leaning against it; not out of nervousness, but form perhaps the weight of what she's about to say. it's a lot, but if anyone deserves those words from her... it's him.]

[she heads to the living room, where she has already set some tea and tea biscuits (purchased, of course, because she is NOT proficient in cooking). the tea is chamomile, as she's heard of his tea preferences through the grapevine of school rumors.]

[she smiles at that - just a little thing, her mind is preoccupied with what she's about to do. she hasn't rehearsed it word for word, but she at least has a good idea of what she wants to say. she takes his hands and leads him to a space where the coffee table or couch isn't in the way, where there's plenty of space.

she's always known that he's tall - but lord, standing up next to him just hits it home. there's a moment where she reminisces about the childhood they could have had, but only for a moment. nostalgia will not help either of them, and despite all the various timelines, she always starts a war in every. single. one.

now that he's where she wants, she drops to her knees-

(UM, EDELGARD?! TODAY, ON DIMITRI'S WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT DAY?!)

-and then folds over so that her hands are flat on the ground before her, her forehead meeting the tops of his shoes.]

Dimitri, I apologize. For driving you to lose your sense of self, for allowing those who plotted the fall of Duscur to walk unpunished for their crimes, for both killing those you love and causing you to raise your blade against them.

Nothing I say or do will change the consequences of my actions. Nor will they bring back those we've lost. But I apologize for it all. I do not expect your forgiveness, but I can only hope you take this apology to heart.

[she doesn't want to say too much in case she muddles her words or sticks her foot in her mouth. short and succinct, but from the heart all the same. she reaches out mentally in synchrony, desperate for him to understand.]

This time's been quite strange for all of us. I never imagined we'd be in a place like this, and I certainly didn't think I'd end up bonding with you either. But I'm glad I've taken the time to talk to you and start to get to know you more. It does make me bittersweet about it, and looking back I wish I'd been brave enough to maybe talk to you during the academy. It's silly, but maybe things would have been different. Even so, at least we have the chance now. I hope you don't mind the cookies, I actually realized I didn't know what you might like so I kind of just went with something cute. Please enjoy them!
