Disposition:

>>outer Edelgard is a model princess: poised, serious yet able to smile and sigh and shake her head, good at her studies, and reserved. She keeps a careful emotional distance from everyone around her, but still maintains a friendliness where others feel free to tease her, where Ferdinand feels comfortable enough to keep up his "rivalry" with her. She's logical and rational, unable to understand why Linhardt will only exert himself only for things that interest him, which she considers a waste. Even after the academy era, she continues to be an aloof, firm ruler. But she is not oppressive - as she listens to other sides, listens to opinions contrary to her own. She does not strike Dimitri when he asks for them to meet during the war. Underhanded tactics are below her, even in the face of war.

>>inner But Edelgard is also quite sweet - she flusters at songs about her, wants to know who her classmates are crushing on, enjoys drawing but doesn't want to show her drawings to others. She wants her classmates to succeed, genuinely wants to work with them to see how they can reach their potential in a way they are comfortable with. She can be quite a bit of a nag, but it's because she cares. That is, until, the war.

>>drive Edelgard is nothing if not stubborn and persistent. Perhaps in part due to Dimitri who told her when they were younger to never give in no matter how hard things get. Edelgard states "because of you, I never lost heart." We don't know if he's actually the reason she never lost heart during the horrific experimentation done to her, which caused her hair to turn from brown to its pale, almost white color, but we do at least know that he had a hand in doing so.

Despite her calm outer persona, her drive is fiery and passionate. She will do anything and sacrifice anyone in order to achieve her ambitions, which is to get rid of the Crest system so glorified in society and perpetuated by the Church. She knows her path is soaked in blood, and she knows it's not going to be easy. Neither does she think she deserves forgiveness - but to her, it's something she must do. She doesn't want anyone else to suffer under Crest experimentation ever again - or allow the people of Foldan to continue suffering under the glorification of Crests. And because of her shortened lifespan, she would gladly bloody her hands for the people of Fodlan to live free, to live the long and prosperous lives that she could not; she had to do it quickly, too, while she still had the time. The process had to be the quickest way to tear down the Church and yet also the most effective. Negotiations or political talks would drag and likely, in her view, reach a standstill and stagnate. And it didn't guarantee the social upheaval required to undo the nobility and undo years and years of commodifying Crests.

I say in her view because she did this all on her own - with the assistance of Hubert, her right hand man, of course. She did not consult the other budding leaders of the other countries, merely decided independently that this was the best solution. And this highlights her stubbornness - while she is open to hearing contrary opinions, in other cases, she thinks she knows best and will not believe otherwise. She continuously states that she's considered every option, even in the mobile game, as if she has the right to decide for the entire continent. So while her actions may be well-intentioned, in the end, she is so characteristically white hyper focused on her goals, she's developed a sort of echo chamber or tunnel vision with regard to how to change Fodlan.

>>hardened Without Byleth, Edelgard does not have the fond memories to temper her ambition, so she develops a sort of "ice heart," in her words. She cruelly burns one of her generals - former classmate - alive, in a last ditch effort to turn the tides of the war. Perhaps she felt as if she had to be cold, to harden her heart to the potentially devastating losses the war likely promised. Either way, as she is increasingly pushed into a corner, she loses more and more of her humanity, to the point of eventually transforming herself into a monster to become victorious.

Under pressure: Since Edelgard is dead in her world, she won't be fighting to get back home anytime soon. She canonically doesn't want to meddle in other countries' affairs, stating that we should respect the differences in cultures. Thus, Edelgard will not have any plans to "usurp" the governments of Noctium, despite whatever inequality or unfairness she may see, as she doesn't understand its history (she once states that she cannot entrust Fodlan to Claude, as he does not understand its mired history). However, under the influence of the Ruby which causes anger to become more prominent, Edelgard may commit acts in line with a coup, depending on her growth here/how her gembond influences her. Should that happen, I will certainly keep in contact with the mods!

Noctium interpretation: Occasionally, her crest will grant her enhanced strength while using combat arts, which are certain techniques or skills usable in limited quantities depending on the weapon.
